Service to Others

 COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

Boy Scouts take an Oath “to help other people at all time” and as part of each rank are required to contribute time to their community. All service projects must be approved by the unit leader (Scoutmaster in this case).

What is Community Service?

A service project is a special Good Turn that puts Scout spirit into action. Projects can take many forms. You might take part in a community cleanup; repair a place of worship, a museum, or the home of an elderly person; improve a wildlife habitat; volunteer at a hospital or with a public safety group; organize a recycling effort; or conduct a clothing pickup or food drive.”

Throughout the year the Troop sponsors service events, but you are not limited to unit-sponsored projects.  Meeting the substantial needs of every community is dependent on its citizens to answer the call of volunteerism.
